Last month, the European Commission officially launched the European Data Portal. The portal now hosts almost 400,000 datasets, almost twice as much as when the beta version was released last November.
Here is an overview of the technical changes made since then:
- the Metadata Quality Assessment (MQA) has been enhanced and new graphs have been added to provide a more comprehensive overview of the metadata quality;
- three more languages — Spanish, Italian and Polish — have been added, and more will follow;
- the Eurostat basemaps used for visualisation are updated with maps from the most recent Eurostat Statistical Atlas;
- the source code for the portal and accompanying documentation will be made available through gitlab.
As for the content:
- a survey for businesses as well as non-profits on the re-use of open data;
- a new library with dozens of resources around open data: reports, case studies, training materials, news, and highlights;
- a training companion; and
- an FAQ section.
