2008 → todayGFOSS is founded
Foundation of the Open Technologies Alliance (GFOSS) as a non-profit organisation promoting Free Software in Greece.
First policy proposals
Start of the systematic submission of letters and policy proposals to ministries, regions, municipalities and political parties.
Network & partnerships grow
Framework agreements with the City of Athens and the Ministry of Education. Launch of conferences and open-technology competitions in education.
European programmes & international cooperation
Participation in Horizon 2020, Interreg MED and Erasmus+ with projects such as ODEON, +RESILIENT, PHYGITAL, SlideWiki and DUET. Greek ODI node, OGP member.
Digital expansion
Continued activity through the pandemic — online MoodleMoot and FOSSCOMM conferences, workshops. MoUs with EKT, NTUA and the Hellenic Cadastre.
New projects & AI
Launch of GR digiGOV-innoHUB, AI4Deliberation, S.T.E.P.S. and GlossAPI. MoU with the Ministry of Digital Governance. GSoC participation with 10 projects.
Growth & 38 members
MoUs with the Mozilla Foundation and the Linux Professional Institute. Launch of FOSSBot4AI (Erasmus+). GlossAPI continues for the Greek language in AI.

Governance & structure
How we operateGFOSS is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the General Assembly of its 38 members. The Scientific Committee provides academic guidance, while 6 volunteer Working Groups carry out its work in the field.
